How it all began.
When our family moved from Hawaii back to the mainland, our health insurance didn't come with us. Instead of help, I got bombarded by high-pressure agents selling plans that excluded my entire medical history. And I felt like I got scammed with the plan I chose. That frustration sparked a fire.
I learned to read the fine print, got licensed, and what started as solving my own family's problem became a career helping others avoid the same trap. Today my husband Mark and I run McGarrity & Associates together — licensed in 33 states, contracted with most major carriers, and committed to one thing: making health coverage make sense.
We work with individuals, families, self-employed professionals, and small businesses to find coverage that actually fits — often with better options and less cost than traditional group plans.

I'm McGarrity (yes, that's my first name). I'm a health coverage advisor, MBA, published author, and mom to two incredible kids. My journey into insurance started when my own coverage failed me during a cross-country move. I was tired of pushy agents and fine print — so I learned how to read the documents, asked tough questions, and became an advisor to help others avoid what my family went through.
Today, I work with individuals, families, and small- to mid-sized businesses to find the right-fit coverage, backed by clear guidance and real options. I also created the McGarrity HR Advisory Subscription — giving HR teams on-demand access to accurate benefits guidance without hiring a specialist.
